Mobilizing Media & Narrative Power for a Just World on a Safe Planet

Introduction

Thank you for your interest in our Impact Report. In it you will learn about our achievements and some of the work undertaken in collaboration with our partners, thanks to the support of our donors.

Our global commons face cascading crises—from climate breakdown to democracy at risk. Why aren’t people acting as if civilization, and life on Earth, are under extreme and immediate threat?

The fossil fuel industry has financed and led a decades-long confusion + disinformation campaign, largely supported by media and business ecosystems, as well as cultural norms. Humanity lacks the infrastructure to adequately fight back: media, communications, culture, politics, knowledge systems, and collaboration.

Individual members of the public do not have the ability to change the systems that are determining the future of life on Earth. In order to enable and compel leaders to take bold action at a systems level, we need a holistic approach to building political will. As the US elections have proven yet again, the greatest force for political will is the media ecosystem

Earth HQ helps bring the science, frameworks, and goals of the Global Commons Alliance to life in the public imagination. We create:

  • Narrative infrastructure to support systemic campaigns
  • Strategic media that translates complexity for mass audiences
  • Cultural storytelling in partnership with journalists and creatives
  • Trusted platforms for public engagement and knowledge sharing

To change anything, we need to engage with the power dynamics that are continuing to prevent or delay urgent action.

engagement

An informed public can take meaningful action by advocating for change, voting for change - either at the ballot box, with their wallets, or by raising their voices to demand it - as well as by implementing changes in their own backyards and communities.

what we've

learned
  • Narratives shape outcomes: Science and facts are necessary—but insufficient. Emotion, identity, and culture drive action.
  • Global South leadership matters: Our most resonant work has come from partnerships led by creatives and communicators from the Global Majority.
  • Infrastructure is often invisible, but always essential: Convening, shared platforms, and creative networks are necessary conditions for lasting impact.
  • Beyond fear & crisis: Solutions-oriented storytelling spurs sustained engagement. Hope and agency matter as much as urgency. Earth HQ is exploring how to tell stories not just of collapse—but of regeneration, imagination, and justice.

Thank

you

To the storytellers, partners, campaigners, scientists, artists, and audiences who have taken action—thank you. This is just the start of shifting narratives into movements, and science into collective will. Together, we build a future where justice and planetary stability are not only imaginable—but unstoppable.
